2. Ponybands

Ponybands are an essential beauty item for anyone with longer hair - female or male.

Not only will they keep hair out of your eyes, but the best hair bands also feel comfortable and look good too.

Hair bands have evolved quite a lot in recent years, with new designs that prioritise comfort and hair health - but one thing remains the same.

We constantly lose our hair bands so need to regularly re-stock our supplies.

Lots of the most popular hair bands available online are designed to minimise creases and kinks in the hair, so your hair stays smooth and silky, whether up or down.

Some even promise to minimise tugging and won't rip through hair when you remove them.

Of course, hair ties are also fashion accessories - and scrunchies, beloved for their comfort, are still heading up the pack.

The favourite is snag-free silk hair bands not only give a luxury feel to your everyday ponytail, they also help reduce creases and kinks in the hair.

Fans love these scrunchies for curly hair, thin hair, straight hair - all hair types. They come in a chic selection of colours if you want to wear them as a bracelet, too :)

3. Sulphate Free Shampoo

Sulphates are types of chemicals called surfactants that play an important role in the effectiveness of shampoos. Surfactants lower the surface tension of the liquid they are in, which makes the liquid easier to mix with water and work up into a good foam.

One downside is that sulphates may be too effective at cleaning. Sulphates help a shampoo to strip oil and dirt away from the hair. However, the hair needs to retain a bit of its natural moisture and oils to stay healthy.

Sulphates may strip away too much moisture, leaving the hair dry and unhealthy. They may also make the scalp dry and prone to irritation.

Sulphate-free shampoos may feel different at first. They will likely take longer to create suds, and people may have to use more of the shampoo to clean their hair thoroughly. A person may also have to use extra water to rinse these shampoos from the hair.

However, sulphate-free shampoos will generally clean the hair just as effectively as those that contain sulphates.

4. Hair Mask

If you've got a spare ten minutes in your day, doing a hair mask might not be a priority. There is TV to watch, snacks to eat, naps to be had. However, just like their facial counterparts, taking the time to hair mask once a week can make a big, shiny difference to your crowning glory.

You might already be doing everything right. Shampooing (but not too often), heat protecting, even scalp-serum-ing. But after all , a mask - working deeper to heal individual strands, smooth breakages and stimulate health - might be the trick.

'Using a hair mask a couple of times a week can really help intensely condition, improve strength and help make hair more manageable,' says Michael Shaun Corby, Global Creative Director for Living Proof. 'I recommend a hair mask in place of your usual conditioner 2-3 times a week, and choose one that targets your hair concerns for the best results.'

First, shampoo your hair and rinse through. The second step is to put on your mask for 3-5 minutes. Condition and towel dry and style your hair, or just let it dry on its own.
